STATEMENT ON WALMART OPIOID SETTLEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT
COLUMBUS – Following today’s announcement that Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost and a team of negotiators have set the table for a $3.1 billion national settlement agreement that would hold Walmart accountable for its role in the opioid-addiction crisis, OneOhio Recovery Foundation Board Chair Kathryn Whittington released the following statement:
“This is another important win for Ohio’s effort to recover from the addiction epidemic, and we are grateful to Attorney General Yost for helping make it happen. We all know that no amount of money can bring back those we have lost, but it can support recovery resources for Ohioans suffering from addiction, as well as prevention efforts so that Ohioans and their communities can hopefully be spared altogether.”
According to Attorney General Yost’s office, Ohio is expected to receive more than $114 million from the settlement, and the money will be distributed through the OneOhio model.
