Toledo Blade Op-Ed: OneOhio Draws Key Funds for Area
OneOhio Executive Director Alisha Nelson recently authored an op-ed in the Toledo Blade to share information about how the Foundation's work is making a positive difference for Northwest Ohio. Read the full op-ed (here).
"The foundation’s 29-member board includes a representative from each of OneOhio’s 19 regions, and regional volunteers help identify and prioritize local needs. Through our first-ever round of funding, more than $45 million will be distributed across Ohio, with over $4 million awarded in northwest Ohio. These grants will fund a range of initiatives to support prevention, treatment, recovery, and beyond.
In OneOhio Region 4, which includes Lucas County alone, several impactful programs received funding. For example, Alvis secured $133,000 to expand peer-led recovery services, while Lucas County Children’s Services received $463,000 to assist children and families struggling with addiction-related challenges. Additionally, Neighborhood Properties was awarded $447,000 to enhance supportive housing services for individuals in recovery..."
"...These investments represent more than financial contributions — they embody hope, stability, and the opportunity for a better future. The foundation prioritizes programs that use evidence-based approaches to drive prevention, treatment, and recovery, with a common theme: connection. Whether strengthening family bonds, integrating individuals into supportive communities, or fostering professional collaboration, these efforts help build the support systems that sustain long-term recovery."
